Every day new things are being created in our world. Babies are being born, new products are being introduced, and new discoveries are being made, all resulting in our world increasing in size and knowledge. Any time you might think that businesses could not outdo themselves; they each find a way to do so.
First we had letters and post, then fax machines and computers, and then the Internet. Now we have an option to choose between many different kinds of communication, and different ways of sharing information, whether we clip out an article from a magazine and post it to a friend, or share a link with them online, we are sharing information.
Google +1 like ‘Like’ button?
Social media network sites came along and introduced the concept of liking people’s statuses or businesses, or event pages, and now Google has Google+1. At first you might think that the Google+1 tab is very similar to the like tab on Facebook, but with further research you will find that Google+1 can be used for a lot more than just liking your friend’s status, or page.
The +1 tab introduced by Google, can be used on any website that has the option, whether it is a Google or non-Google site. You can +1 any information on the web that you like, and if a friend happens to come across that website, seeing your +1 might encourage them to further peruse the site, and maybe +1 it themselves.
The Way to recommend content
By +1’ing websites you are actually helping to legitimize the information on that web page. People usually do not just like everything, and agree with everything on the website, so by +1’ing or not +1’ing a website, they are showing that they not only like the information, but might just agree with it. You could also be recommending a website to your friends, and family through using +1. People are more likely to read information from a website that has been browsed and recommended, by someone they trust, because at the end of the day people take advice from their peers whom they trust, than from the Internet.
Popularity of +1 button will grow
As the popularity of the +1 button increases, it is very possible that websites that are more frequently visited now maybe less frequently visited later, as people decide whether or not to recommend them, and whether or not the information they provide is legitimate.
The +1 option is a public action, which means that when you decide to +1 something, people who visit that website will see that you have +1’d it, so you would want to be very sure that you are ready to recommend a certain page. This also means that not just anyone would recommend a certain page, as people would want to ensure they are recommending something that it is absolutely true and not misleading.
Therefore the Google+1 option could really help to legitimize information on the web, depending on how and who decides to use it.
